Director's Cut Complete Gameboy Series (Black & White Kinda Edition)
It's time once again to go over that classic 8 Bit compact video game system, The Game Boy. By “going over” is stating it lightly. This monstrosity of a Director’s Cut presentation of So Wrong’s Gameboy series includes all previously released episodes. Each episode starting from Hardware (2017) to the most recent Wrestling Games (2021) is included, along with a brand new segment: Role Playing Games for the Gameboy. The Director’s Cut contains over 100 games and over 20 mins of new footage. Some of the episodes are remastered and some are not. That is why certain audio levels will not match between some episodes. Just a warning this presentation is over 3hour and 40mins long. This is the complete Game Boy series! Why the “Black & White Kinda Edition”? First, let’s call this a docuseries. A docuseries about the gameboy. The Black & White Kinda Edition is kinda in black and white, not 100% in black and white though hence the title: “kinda”. Just trying to be cute. The black and white visual technique is only used when the Retro Dad is on screen either as introductions or cut aways. There is a small number of background clips as well. This method is not only an artistic choice but also one out of necessity. I visually love the look of black and white films. Forgotten a So Wrong Film was made in b&w because of the aesthetics. Plus, it is playing around with the concept of the Gameboy being in “black and white”. On the other hand there is another reason behind it. The Mario shirt (what RD wears in the video) caused bleed through because of the color red. Sadly, this is due to partial corruption of the footage by my current editing station. In my current rig I can't fix the issue. There are a few moments of smaller bleed through in some footage. I just couldn’t correct it at this time. Unfortunately, there is corruption in some audio as well. Even with the small flaws it shouldn’t take away from The So Wrong's Retro Collecting: Director's Cut Complete Gameboy Series (Black & White Kinda Edition).
